Black El Paso News & Lifestyle Publication is the information channel for the citizens of El Paso who are interested in being informed about El Paso’s astounding Black residents. Our publication embraces the African-American culture that many of our readers who travel here from various parts of the country seek to find. From thought provoking issues on business and education to entertaining commentary on fashion and music; we are dedicated to providing the most accurate and enlightening information to our readers.
This monthly news & lifestyle publication focuses on the strengths and accomplishments of many of our African-American residents who are entrepreneurs, educators, students, leaders, athletes, etc. We will include articles on Career and Education, Health and Fitness, Business and Finance, Arts & Entertainment, Book Reviews, Civic and Social events/organizations and much, much more.

Submitting articles
Please query first by email or send to our PO BOX before submitting your article. No simultaneous submissions please. Always query first unless invited to submit simultaneous articles by our editorial director.
Please write clearly and concisely using simple yet, professional language.
Unsolicited manuscripts, articles, etc., will not be returned.
Queries: Your query should include an outline of your proposed article, how this article will benefit or entice our readers and why this article coincides with our area of focus.
We welcome new and established writers. If you are an established writer, please credential pertaining to your published works.
Writing should be done from a clear, professional approach with a professional journalistic approach.
We receive several queries pertaining to article submissions. Please allow at least a 2 week response for each submission.
What to include in your submission:
Name, address, daytime telephone number and email address.
All articles must be submitted (if by email) text in Microsoft Word. If you are submitting an article, please check your facts and supporting documentation verifying facts.
Validity will be checked by fact checkers so please be prepared to answer questions pertaining to the article submitted. No PLAGIARIZED WORKS ALLOWED!
All articles submitted must be your original work, no reprints published in other publications.
We do not guarantee publication.
Terms/Payment
1st usage, World Wide rights: Payment is based upon strength of editorial content, clarity and timeliness of information for one-time print/online commercial and non-commercial use once we accept your submission.
Reprints: If we choose to reprint your article, payment is 10% of the original per use rights.
Kill Fees: We do not pay kill fees should we choose not to print/publish your article.
Copyright reverts back to the writer after publication
You will receive a complimentary copy of the issue in which we print your article.
Your byline will be included.
Photos of writers are preferred but not necessary.
Payment will be made by check within 10 days of publication.
What to submit:
We accept real life profiles of El Pasoans and other persons of interest to our readers. Our readers are interested in local and national news that satisfies their sense of being.
All articles submitted should be no less than 200 but no more than 2000 words in length.
These articles should be engaging and well written. We love first person stories on travels, lifestyle, gardening, cooking, parenting—real life.
All articles should be double typed and 11pt font preferable in serif type such as Times New Roman.
Tips:
- We are not interested in book excerpts or reprints.
- Check spelling on names, places, etc.
- Remember: journalistic integrity—broad based articles. Educational and human interest stories are preferred.
- Articles should be timely and relevant. Please check our website for each month’s editorial focus.
- We generally focus on articles that have a strong point of view and those that keep our readers engaged. Most readers like to learn something from what they have read. Please keep that in mind.

Submissions Agreement

I am submitting to you the following materials ("the Material"):

In accordance with the following agreement:
1. I represent and warrant to you, your successors, and assigns that the Material is original with me and that no other persons other than those who have signed this agreement have collaborated with me in creating and developing the Material.
2. Your consideration of the Material and any negotiations between us regarding the Material shall not be deemed an admission of the novelty or originality of the Material.
3. You may retain a copy of the Material and I release you from any liability for loss or damage thereto.
4. I hereby grant you the right to use the Material provided that you shall first conclude an agreement with me for such use or you shall determine that you have an independent legal right to use the Material or any portion thereof which is not derived from me either because the Material is not new, novel, or original or has not been reduced to concrete form or because other persons (which may include your employees and other persons presenting materials to you) have submitted similar or identical suggestions, features, and material which you have the right to use.
5. This Agreement shall be construed solely under Texas substantive law (except where the Supremacy Clause of the Constitution of the United States requires federal law to apply). The parties having chosen the substantive law to apply, no other choice of law (including Texas) applies. Any dispute shall be settled in the state of Texas; if dispute resolution is required, it shall be conducted in Texas. A party may enforce any settlement or arbitration in any other forum only in accord with applicable law. Any dispute between us which cannot be settled by the parties in a reasonable time shall be submitted to arbitration in El Paso, Texas, in accordance with the rules and regulations of the American Arbitration Association. I agree that any claim against you, your employees, officers, directors, or shareholders based on the Material must be brought within one year after the date of your first publication or other relevant use of the Material.
6. In the event of any dispute that requires dispute resolution, the prevailing party shall be entitled to receive reimbursement from the non-prevailing party for all mediation, arbitration, and other legal costs, expenses, and fees, in addition to any other recovery or award.
7. This agreement constitutes our entire understanding and my signature and the signature of any person who has collaborated with me in the creation or development of the Material shall constitute agreement to the terms and conditions set forth herein. This agreement may be changed only by a written instrument signed by you and me. This agreement also applies to any other material which I may submit to you unless it is agreed by us in writing to the contrary. The invalidity of any provision of this agreement shall not affect the remainder, which shall continue in full force and effect.
