LOCAL SCHOLAR PARTICIPATES IN HISTORIC INAUGURATION
University Presidential Inaugural Conference Inspires Up-and-Coming Leaders
Family and friends and local community organizations, such as the Black El Paso Democrats and the Women’s Department of the Texas Western Jurisdiction COGIC played a part in history by supporting local UTEP student Danielle Riddick on her trip to the Historic 2009 Presidential Inauguration.
Danielle Riddick is a Junior Education Major at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). Pursuing a certification as a Sign Language Interpreter at El Paso Community College (EPCC), she is also a member of the National Society for Collegiate Scholars.
Danielle was nominated to attend the University Presidential Inaugural Conference in Washington, D.C., which will took place January 17-21, 2009. As a Conference participant, Danielle was afforded the opportunity to attend and be witness to the Historic Inauguration of the United States' 44th Presiden, Barack H. Obama. Danielle also attended the Black Tie Gala Inaugural Ball, panel discussions featuring political experts, and visits to the nation's most celebrated landmarks and museums.
Danielle currently maintains a 3.98 GPA out of 4.0 at UTEP and has made the Dean's list each semester that she hasa attended UTEP.
Danielle participated in the service learning program at UTEP and completed 20 volunteer hours at a local elementary school. She works part time as a Math and English tutor, is a substitute teacher in the Canutillo School District and enjoys being the praise team leader and youth teacher at Westside Christian Fellowship Church of God in Christ.
